Carpet Cleaning FAQ
Below are some questions about the carpet cleaning process that we are often asked by our customers:
- Can you remove difficult stains, such as wine, tea, coffee and ink?
-
Yes - very often we can and do. Whilst it's possible to remove most stains, the likelihood of success depends on factors such as the length of time the spillage has been in the carpet, and what has even done to treat a stain prior to contacting us.
- Do I need to move all of the furniture out of the room before you visit?
-
We do move some furniture such as sofas and armchairs but we would only do so using professional sliders which make sure your carpets are not at risk of damage. It is not necessary to like display cupboards as they either totally cover the carpet or we can clean and sanitise by hand underneath. We would ask our customers prior to our arrival, where physically possible, to remove small items to give us as clear a floor as possible, and to place ornaments etc on a different room if they are at risk. When we arrive we will check everywhere to make sure there ornaments or small items at risk.
- How long does it take for the carpet to dry after it's been cleaned?
-
Carpets should be touch dry damp to the touch when we finish (never soaking or squelchy - which is not professional cleaning) although we recommend you try not to walk across them wherever possible until you’re sure they are dry. Depending on the humidity of the day - carpets cleaned in a morning should be dry by the time children come home from school.
- What detergents do you use during cleaning?
-
We use only use cleaning products that have been rigorously tested directly by Texatherm Cleaning Solutions based in Weston Super Mare and their system is the only one in the industry with international patents, which gives us a huge benefit.
- Are your cleaning detergents pet safe?
-
Yes, TCS products are safe, having been tested to the highest of standards. We would of course recommend keeping pets away from the areas that we are working in.
- How long does the cleaning process take?
-
Every cleaning job is different, depending on size and how whether stains need to be treated. Before any carpet or upholstery cleaning takes place thorough vacuuming with a commercial vacuum cleaner to remove dry dirt takes place and this also disturbs marks then giving us the best opportunity to remove them when we wet clean. With upholstery in particular it is essential that fabric tests are carried out prior to wet cleaning - and we do this without fail every time - and again - vacuum for around around 60 minutes with a commercial vacuum to remove dry dirt and disturb marks - so that your upholstery has the best chance to look it’s best after wet cleaning.
- After my carpets are cleaned will there be a smell?
-
Your carpets and upholstery will smell fresh afterwards and we will return the ph of the fibres to as near near neutral ph as possible - so that there is no premature re-soiling afterwards.
- Does deep cleaning a carpet wear it out faster?
-
On the contrary - Correct cleaning will not wear out a carpet faster, but will prolong its life. What wears a carpet prematurely is grit over time wearing the fibres at the base (a quality vacuum is essential and regular vacuuming) and incorrect carpet or upholstery cleaning where high level alkalines are left in the fibres.
- How often should I get my carpets cleaned?
-
Carpets that are correctly cleaned should not need cleaning again for a long time. Most of our customers do not need to call us to clean their carpets again for in under 3 years and often longer - because our cleaning process does not prematurely attract dirt back to the fibres.
- What areas do you cover?
-
Most of our customers are from all areas of Leicestershire, but we do get calls from customers from other areas in South Derbyshire, and the villages south of Nottingham and occasionally further afield where we have been recommended.
- How much do you charge for carpet cleaning?
-
As you would expect cleaning costs vary depending on many factors, such as the size of the job, how much furniture there is to move, how dirty or stained areas are. It is always more cost effective to have more than one carpet cleaned at the same visit because after the largest carpet is cleaned and sanitised we can often heavily discount other carpets. This is because we already have all our equipment set up and running and extra rooms and upholstery can often be fitted in at a very cost effective rate.
